School Board Comes to Barton

Always wanted to attend a Minneapolis Board of Education meeting but not sure how to find 807 NE Broadway? Well, here's your chance. This Monday, May 1, the School Board takes the show on the road to meet at Clara Barton Open School, 4237 Colfax Ave S., where they'll be discussing the 2006-07 budget from 4 - 5:30. From 6 - 7:30, Interim Superintendent Bill Green will hold a town hall meeting.

Parent Leadership Summit

Parents United is sponsoring a Parent Leadership Summit in St. Paul on May 15. After a morning of speakers and lunch, attendees will go to the Capitol to meet with legislative leaders.

Get full details on the agenda and information on how to register here.

Spirit Week

This week is Spirit Week at Burroughs! That means every day brings something weird and wonderful:

Monday
Comfort Wear Day. Having a difficult time getting out of bed? Forget about changing your clothes! Come to school in those comfy pajamas and make the start of the school week a little
easier.

Tuesday
Crazy Hat / Hair Day. Gum stuck in your hair? Got struck by lightning? Don't worry - just cover it up with a wacky hat.

Wednesday
Backwards Day. Is the back of your shirt cooler than the front? Now is your chance to show the world. Good luck buttoning it up the back!

Thursday
Mismatched Day. No one has done laundry all week? Don't worry, go ahead and wear plaid with stripes. The more outrageous the color combinations, the better! Make your teacher dizzy today.

Friday
School Spirit Day. Put on your Burroughs spirit wear, your Read-a-thon shirt, or any blue and gold clothes you own. Show the world that Burroughs School rocks! The Spirit Wear booth will
be open before school for any last-minute purchases. Parents, don't forget to show your spirit, too.

Have you been missing the district's lunch (and breakfast) menu? The Food Service Department is in the process of creating a new Web site, so the April menu fell through the cracks. It's back in service, on their new Web site.
